THE ALABAMA PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL COMMISSION APPROVED PLANS FOR THE ALABAMA AEROSPACE AND AVIATION HIGH SCHOOL TO OPEN IN THE FALL OF 2022 IN BESSEMER.
School officials said the public charter school will offer an immersive, industry-aligned education designed to prepare students for future aerospace and aviation careers.
AN AVIATION-FOCUSED CHARTER SCHOOL HAS RECEIVED APPROVAL FROM THE ALABAMA PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL COMMISSION AFTER BEING DENIED APPROVAL FROM THE BIRMINGHAM BOARD OF EDUCATION SEVEN MONTHS AGO.
The Alabama Aerospace and Aviation High School (AAHS) now plans to open its school in Bessemer as opposed to Birmingham, where it previously had plans to house the campus at the Southern Museum of Flight. The school is expected to open in fall 2022 at the Foundation of Life Church, which will serve as a temporary location while a permanent facility is being built at the Bessemer Municipal Airport.
