New Alabama Aerospace and Aviation HS to Begin Student Enrollment, Teacher Hiring
Monday, November 22, 2021LEADERS OF ALABAMA’S FIRST AVIATION HIGH SCHOOL CAN NOW OFFICIALLY MOVE FORWARD AFTER SIGNING THE CONTRACT WITH THE ALABAMA PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL COMMISSION.
The goal is to build a 50,000 square foot state of the art facility at the Bessemer Municipal Airport to house the Alabama Aerospace and Aviation High School.
THE ALABAMA AEROSPACE AND AVIATION HIGH SCHOOL (AAHS) ON MONDAY ANNOUNCED THAT IT HAD SIGNED ITS CHARTER CONTRACT WITH THE ALABAMA PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL COMMISSION.
AAHS, fresh off the official contract signing, can now move forward with its plans to open the school in August 2022.
THE ALABAMA AEROSPACE AND AVIATION HIGH SCHOOL (AAHS) ON MONDAY HOSTED A CELEBRATORY LUNCHEON AT THE BESSEMER MUNICIPAL AIRPORT IN HONOR OF THE SCHOOL’S CHARTER APPROVAL.
The celebration was held in a hangar at Bessemer Municipal Airport’s Mitchell Field, where the school’s future home will be located when it opens its doors next fall.

Founder of the Alabama Aerospace and Aviation Industry Ruben Morris said the recent approval to launch the school is pivotal. The school was denied the chance to launch in the Birmingham City School System twice and now will cater mostly to students of Bessemer. Morris said the approval represents not only a lot to him but a lot to the many people that have supported the school’s launch in the community.
